“The More Color the Better”
When we first discovered Vivienne Kelly, the collection from jewelry designer Kelly Brett, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the vibrant colors and youthful energy of her pieces. But we soon realized that these are no child-like designs – the colors may be bright, the shapes may be bold, but the artistic technique, attention to detail, and refined materials are very grown-up, and show the mark of a real emerging design talent.
It all began for Kelly one summer when she was planning accessories for Ralph Lauren.com. As she describes it, a by-chance encounter with a photo she had taken years prior of the home of famed Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona, led to a profound epiphany: “that being an independent artist is something I could creatively master just like Gaudi. From that day forward, I set my sights on building an independent accessories empire that would reach men and women of style all over the world.”
And that’s exactly what she’s doing. Kelly’s designs continue to be influenced by the refined color blotching of Antonio Gaudi, as well as the rough yet technical consistency of graffiti art, and the geometric architecture and color-stained hieroglyphs of the ancient Egyptian pyramids.
Kelly’s aesthetic inspirations are diverse, but they cohere into a seamless collection that is playful, a little bit funk, and oozes grown-up cool. We are in love with Kelly’s designs and know you will be too. Enjoy!
