“West Coast style with an East Coast feel”

John O’Donnell, or as most call him, Johnnie-O, started his company in 2005 while helping his friend on what started out as a hobby. He soon fell in love with the designing and created the first model of his line for friends on a golf trip. Instead of the basic plain golf wardrobes everyone was accustomed to, he added a little “surfer dude” flare, and it was a hit! Everyone loved them, including his brother Chris O’Donnell, and his fan base grew, here johnnie-O was born.

It was only natural that John started with a golf shirt design. Being one of six brothers and sisters in Chicago, he was always very active and has been an avid golfer since the age of twelve. Playing on the golf team at UCLA, he emerged in the collegiate ranks as a competitive amateur golfer, participating in five USGA events, including two U.S. Amateur championships. He also played in The World Club Championships in Korea, The Unibank Open in Rio de Janeiro, and a slew of club tournaments and invitationals. Needless to say, golf has always been a part of his life.

John likes to think of his brand as West Coast preppy. It is a unique emerging apparel and lifestyle brand that merges the casual West Coast style with the refined East Coast feel. The untraditional and cool surfer logo represents an active but casual outdoors way of life in our social consciousness. Being from Chicago and exposed to all walks of life, the logo is a representation of flavor from all forms. He wants you to step out in a classic, yet fun way.

It is not just fashion but a way of life. Today johnnie-O has been recognized philanthropically for its contributions to numerous charitable organizations such as Autism Speaks, The Brees Dream Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Surfrider Foundation, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation, and Allendale Shelter Club, among others.
