Tie One On

Scarf Styling Tips

The versatility of scarves make them a wardrobe essential. Selecting the right scarf to update an outfit or to transition from day to night is key. Terracotta scarves are ideal because they are created with chiffon silk making them highly luxurious, while the playful patterns make them ultra modern.

Once you have the perfect scarf, the styling options are endless.

HEADWRAPS with the Presley Scarf

- Resort Style: Start with the style above, but use the flowing ends of fabric and your own ponytail to create a dramatic braid.

- Downtown Style: Start with the base above, but bring the flowing ends of fabric back to the top of your head and tie with a big voluminous bow.

BODYWRAPS with the Payton Scarf

- Evening Style: Transition a simple jersey dress to evening by tying the scarf as seen above and adding a dazzling brooch in the center.

- Strategic Style: Love the look of strapless but not the bulges it can create near the arm? The criss crossed fabric in the style above and be spread out to create more coverage.

NECKWRAPS with the Finley Scarf

- Bohemian Style: Add beads to the flowing ends of the scarf and tie small knots above and below the beads to keep them in place, drape as shown above.

- Tuxedo Style: Tie just the tips of the flowing ends into a small knot at your throat to create the "bow tie". Pull down the center section to create the bib of the "tuxedo shirt" and to keep the bow tie in place on your neck. Another creative option for more coverage with a strapless top.

Terracotta New York Scarves - Lion'esque Style

You know those people who wear scarves even when it’s 85 degrees outside and everyone is dripping with sweat? Yep, I’m one of those. I LOVE ‘em. To me, they are the perfect accessory no matter the season or occasion or time of day or anything else. My unofficial uniform has become a decidedly neutral color palette – a lot of black, nude, white, and denim – with accents of color and pattern. Colorful bangles, earrings, layered necklaces, ikat-printed bags, and, you guessed it, scarves.

Given my minor obsession, I am always on the lookout for new scarf brands and styles. When I first discovered Terracotta New York – and even more when I delved deeper into their story and brand ethos – I fell in love.

Terracotta co-founders Yidi and Alina are fairly kick-ass – two Wall St.- groomed gals who followed their passion (and knack) for design and launched their own business. One of their goals in launching the brand was to inject a young energy and feel to chiffon silk scarves traditionally associated with an older demographic. The result is scarves that are all about quality materials and construction – all are manufactured in Lake Como, Italy, and feature details such as hand-hemmed edges – while also having a decidedly young, modern feel. With their inspired patterns, adorable details, and bold color options, Terracotta New York’s scarves were an obvious fit for Lion’esque Style. We are so thrilled to be able to introduce this brand to our customers!

Guide to Wrist Stacking: Street Art Edition

 Wrist Stacks l Lion'esque Style

With so many fun and unique ways to do it, wrist-stacking has become a complete art of its own. You can wear a ton of bangles or beaded bracelets. You can mix thin bracelets with cuffs and watches. You can play with different metals, materials and colors...the possible combinations are endless!

With this week's Street-Art Inspired trend and the addition of Vivienne Kelly's Lily Bracelet, we just had to play around and find the best ways to create a "stack made-in-heaven" for such a beautiful piece of wearable art. Here is our Guide to Stacking Your Street Art:

  1. Stick with solid metals. Keeping it simple will let the art be the focus.
  2. Play with widths and dimensions. Adding thicker cuffs in with bangles will make the stack more massive and interesting.
  3. Pair with other artistic pieces. Make sure they are in the same family (like shown above).
  4. Add in colors that match or complement. Choose a solid bracelet in a color that will accentuate the art.

Zara Terez: How Street Art Colors and Style Inspires Me

Zara Terez Inspired Scuba Bags l Lion'esque Style

It's Street-Art Inspired Accessories week, and the trend collection would not be complete without a behind the scenes moment with the Zara Terez Team:

Question (LS): What is the inspiration for your make up and laptop scuba bags?
From Amanda at Zara Terez: When making our make-up and laptop scuba cases, we knew we wanted to use colors and prints that really popped (just like this amazing graffiti fashion!), we were so sick of the same old boring cases for our much loved computers... everything else in our wardrobe was stylish, why couldn't our computers join the fun too? Plus, putting on make up is supposed to be fun! these prints remind us of just how fun we can be.

Question (LS): What are your favorite ways to use them and style them?
Amanda: We use our cases for everything. especially when traveling we can use the cases for anything ie: a wet bathing suit case, toiletries, a jewelry bag, a clear underwear holder...or sunblock bag for the beach! When we are in the office, instead of lugging our handbags to lunch, we just throw our phones and wallets into a case and grab it on the run. (as pictured above with blogger Rock Shic)

Question (LS): What are you excited about for summer?
Amanda: We are loving the turban look for the beach this summer and rocking as much red, white, and blue as possible :) all of our fourth of july patterns will be coming in gym shorts, biker shorts, leggings, skater skirts, swing shorts and turbans!! maybe by next summer you'll see some Zara Terez swim suits...

Vivienne Kelly Perfect Pops of Art

Vivienne Kelly Jewelry l Lion'esque Style

This week we introduce the Vivienne Kelly collection, infused with a vibrant and cool aesthetic.

The variants in size and colorways lend themselves to lots of Lion'esque layering options. Not so confident in your layering abilities? Here's how...

1. Option One: Length play (thank you Pinterest)

Start from top to bottom or bottom up, but the key here is to space out length options.

2. Option Two: Pendant Play (see top image)

- start with a bar necklace, simple and close to your neckline

- add on a multi-dimensional piece

- finish with a solid pendant

3. Option Three: Color Play (see image below)

Summer sun allows for necklaces to be worn forward or backward with an open back top or dress. Styling in the back gives you even more options to add an unexpected pop of color to your look. Show off a fun and flirty style by layering different shades - our go-to summer faves are turquoise and tangerine.
